Stages of Property Sale Conveyancing

In most cases, the conveyancing process for property sales entails the following:

  1. Contract Preparation & Execution: In this stage, the seller's conveyancer prepares the contract for the property sale including all essential details about the property and the terms of the sale, so you can list your property on the market.
  2. Review & Negotiation: The buyer's conveyancer reviews the contract and may request to negotiate amendments to any of the terms and conditions.
  3. Exchange of Contracts: Once both parties are satisfied with the contract and all conditions are met, a deposit is paid by the buyer and contracts are exchanged. At this point, the sale becomes legally binding.
  4. Mid-transaction: All parties will join on the PEXA Workspace where all documents are prepared in readiness of settlement including a discharge of mortgage if applicable.
  5. Settlement & Transfer of Ownership: During this final stage, the settlement date is confirmed and the balance of the purchase price is paid by the buyer. The seller hands over the keys and legal ownership of the property is transferred to the buyer.
